How is the buy average calculated for F&O trades on Sahi?

The buy average (also called average price or average cost) for an F&O position on Sahi is the volume-weighted average price at which you have entered the position across all your buy orders for that contract.

How it is calculated:

If you buy multiple lots of the same F&O contract at different prices, the average is calculated as:

Average Price = Total Cost of All Lots ÷ Total Number of Lots

How partial exits affect the average:

When you partially exit a position, the buy average does not change; it remains based on your original entry cost. Only the quantity changes. The average is recalculated from scratch only if you completely close and re-enter the position.

Note: For F&O positions, the buy average shown on Sahi reflects the total premium paid (for options) or the futures entry price (for futures contracts). It does not include brokerage and other charges in the average price display — charges are shown separately in the P&L breakdown.
