BLS Polymers IPO: Key Strengths, Risks

Key strengths

  • Established polymer compounder: Incorporated in 1991, BLS Polymers manufactures more than 127 grades of custom-formulated polymer compounds used in wire and cable insulation, jacketing and pipeline coatings. Its end markets include power, telecom, railways, water, and oil and gas.
  • Improving financial performance: Revenue from operations rose 8.6% from ₹296.36 crore in FY2024 to ₹349.43 crore in FY2026. Profit after tax increased to ₹27.01 crore from ₹7.52 crore, while EBITDA margin improved from 7.10% to 13.33%.
  • Broader product mix: Pipeline revenue rose from 19.07% in FY2026 to 26.80% in Q1 FY2027, reducing the company’s reliance on wire and cable compounds.
  • Capacity expansion: BLS proposes adding 52,050 metric tonnes per annum of PE and XLPE capacity, raising installed capacity from 35,251 MTPA to 87,301 MTPA by FY2028. IPO proceeds will partly fund the expansion.

Key risks

  • Customer concentration: Top 10 customers accounted for 66.81% of FY2026 revenue and 61.34% in Q1 FY2027. Losing a major customer could affect sales and profitability.
  • Supplier dependence: The top 10 suppliers accounted for 93.49% of purchases in FY2026. The company has no long-term agreements with most suppliers and faces raw-material price and availability risks.
  • Exposure to wire and cable demand: Wire and cable compounds contributed 80.93% of FY2026 revenue. A slowdown in these industries, competition, or customer in-house production could hurt demand.
  • Capacity utilisation: Total capacity utilisation was 66% in FY2026, down from 67.88% in FY2025. If demand, raw-material supplies or execution fall short, added capacity may increase costs without matching sales.
