About MV Electrosystems

Incorporated in 2009, MV Electrosystems Ltd. designs, develops, assembles, and manufactures electrical and power electronics equipment for railway rolling stock. Its product portfolio includes IGBT-based three-phase drive propulsion systems for electric locomotives, switchgear panels for railway coaches and EMUs, cable protection and management products, and other railway electrical systems.

The company benefits from India's expanding railway electrification and high-speed rail projects, supported by its in-house Research, Design & Development Centre in Faridabad, Haryana. As of 31 May 2026, MV Electrosystems had 206 employees.

Strengths (from DRHP)

  • Indigenous, in-house propulsion technology (IGBT-based drive systems for electric locomotives)
  • Long-standing relationship with Indian Railways (since 2009)
  • Established order book — 564 propulsion units valued at Rs 921.64 crore (as of June 30, 2026)
  • Experienced engineering team (35+ design engineers) and a diversified railway-electronics product base

Risk Factors (from DRHP)

  • Severe customer concentration — Indian Railways alone is 76.72% of FY2026 revenue; top 10 customers = 93.04%
  • All manufacturing facilities concentrated in one state (Haryana)
  • Revenue actually declined in FY2026 — Rs 64.64 crore (FY25) to Rs 49.79 crore (FY26) — while the company swung to a Rs 12.63 crore net loss from a Rs 1.40 crore profit in FY25, driven by R&D spend and pre-commercial-production costs (only 3 propulsion units produced in FY26; commercial production began March 2026)
  • Competition from multinational players and a limited approved-supplier list in the propulsion segment

Conclusion

MV Electrosystems IPO was a ₹290 crore issue made up entirely of a fresh issue, priced at ₹400 to ₹425 per share. The Faridabad-based company, incorporated in 2009, manufactures railway electronics, and its heavy dependence on the railway sector remains the key risk, with financial performance that had been largely flat going into the issue. The shares listed at a 22.35% premium on 6 August 2026. Order flow from Indian Railways and any diversification beyond it will decide the stock's direction from here.
