Details of the TCS-BSNL order

The latest LoI is linked to the expansion of BSNL’s 4G network and formalises a portion of business that Tejas Networks had previously expected to receive.

Key details include:

  • Customer: Tata Consultancy Services

  • End project: BSNL 4G mobile network

  • Order value: ₹1,537 crore

  • Sites covered: 18,685

  • Scope: RAN equipment, accessories and installation materials

  • Order status: Letter of Intent received

  • Purchase order: To be issued by TCS in due course

In May 2025, TCS had received an add-on advance purchase order worth ₹2,903 crore from BSNL for planning, engineering, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and annual maintenance of its 4G network across 18,685 sites.

Tejas Networks had subsequently indicated that it expected a corresponding purchase order worth around ₹1,526 crore. The latest ₹1,537 crore LoI therefore formalises a significant part of that anticipated business.

Why is the ₹1,537 crore order for Tejas Networks?

The size of the latest order is substantial compared with Tejas Networks’ existing order backlog. The company ended the June quarter with an order book of ₹1,529 crore, making the new ₹1,537 crore LoI slightly larger than its entire order book at the end of Q1 FY27.

Tejas Networks has been a key equipment supplier for BSNL’s indigenous 4G rollout. It supplied base stations and radio infrastructure, while TCS spearheaded the overall deployment through a consortium that also included the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT).

The company had originally secured an order worth ₹7,492 crore for supplying 4G RAN equipment for roughly 100,000 BSNL sites.

How did Tejas Networks shares react?

Tejas Networks shares were among the top smallcap gainers and one of the most actively traded stocks on the NSE on Friday. The stock climbed nearly 10%, marking its biggest gain in 16 weeks, according to the supplied source.

The sharp market reaction followed the announcement of the ₹1,537 crore TCS order, which is slightly larger than the company’s order book at the end of Q1 FY27.

Conclusion: What does this mean for your portfolio?

Tejas Networks shares are in focus after the company received a ₹1,537 crore LoI from TCS for BSNL’s 4G network across 18,685 sites. The order is larger than the company’s ₹1,529 crore Q1 FY27-end order book, while investors will be watching the issuance of the detailed purchase order by TCS and the company’s ability to rebuild revenue following the completion of a large part of the initial BSNL rollout.
