Quick Summary

Zepto has raised the minimum order for free delivery to ₹199 from ₹149 for several customers. The move could encourage larger order baskets and support delivery economics as the quick commerce company competes with Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart.

Quick commerce platform Zepto has raised the minimum order value required for free delivery to ₹199 from ₹149, making smaller orders more expensive for customers. The change comes as quick commerce companies focus on improving order and increasing the average value of each customer basket.

The revised threshold puts Zepto in line with rivals Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart, which also have a ₹199 threshold for free delivery in several markets. During periods of high demand, Zepto's minimum order value can rise further to ₹299, according to reports.

Zepto Minimum Order Value: From ₹99 to ₹199

The latest increase is part of a series of changes to Zepto's delivery policy.

Zepto had earlier offered free delivery on orders above ₹99. The company increased this threshold to ₹149 for several users. It later moved the threshold to ₹199 for select users before the latest broader increase.

The minimum order requirement has also varied across users and locations during earlier trials. Reports from customers showed different thresholds, including ₹99, ₹149 and ₹199. It suggests that Zepto has been testing its delivery across markets and customer segments.

The latest move means customers placing small orders may have to add more products to their carts to qualify for free delivery. Alternatively, they may have to pay the applicable delivery charge.

The strategy could help Zepto increase its Net Order Value (NOV) by encouraging larger baskets. It could also reduce the delivery cost burden associated with low-value orders. Analysts have pointed to these factors as possible benefits for the company's unit economics.

Why Zepto Is Raising the Free Delivery Threshold?

Quick commerce companies have historically used low or zero delivery fees to attract customers and increase order frequency. However, the sector is now moving towards stronger profitability and sustainable unit economics.

Zepto operates in a highly competitive market against Blinkit, Instamart and other quick commerce platforms. Companies have invested heavily in dark stores, delivery networks, technology and customer acquisition.

The higher minimum order value can encourage customers to consolidate purchases into larger baskets. This can improve revenue generated per delivery while helping platforms manage fulfilment costs.

The move also comes after Zepto introduced a demand-linked approach to delivery thresholds. In some locations and during peak demand, the minimum value has reportedly reached ₹299.

Zepto IPO Plans and Latest Status

The delivery threshold change comes at an important time for Zepto as the company works towards a public listing.

Zepto confidentially filed for an IPO with SEBI in December 2025. The proposed issue was initially reported at around ₹11,000 crore, or $1.22 billion.

In June 2026, Zepto filed an updated Draft Red Herring Prospectus. The proposed IPO included a fresh issue of ₹8,010 crore and an offer for sale of up to 113.47 million shares by existing investors.

The company planned to use fresh IPO proceeds to expand its dark store network, fund existing store rentals, strengthen technology and cloud infrastructure, support marketing and pursue acquisitions.

Zepto was valued at $7 billion after raising $450 million in October 2025. The latest IPO discussions have reportedly involved a much lower valuation, highlighting the growing focus among public-market investors on profitability and sustainable growth.
